little happy lists: one
It was my birthday this week, and as a result, I let myself step back from current events for a day and think about the good in my life and oh my god was it amazing. I've decided since then that I'm going to make this a weekly thing. Every Sunday, I'm going to look back at my week and think about the little things that made me happy. And I'm going to post it because I miss being able to share happy thoughts on my blog and eh, we could all use a bit more positivity these days. So here goes for this week:
A gave me daffodils for my birthday, and I've been fawning over them since. They're some of my favorite flowers, so delicate and happy and yellow... and yes, I'm counting the yellow as one of their good qualities. I used to hate yellow, but it's such a warm and happy color that I don't see why I did.
- coffee shops
I've spent a fair bit of time in different coffee shops with different friends this week. A lot of good talks were had and good things were read, and I'm forever grateful for these spaces where we can come together, casually, to drink the nectar of the gods.
- classical music
A and I have made it a tradition to go to our favorite restaurant on our birthdays. It's the only time we go there as it's much nicer than the places we go on our working student budgets, but it's a treat every time we do. They have wonderfully creative dishes and they play nothing but opera and classical music. I've talked about this before, but our love of classical music was one of the things that A and I first bonded over, and now, watching him listen to and enjoy different melodies is one of the most calming and beautiful things I get to see.
